Equine Services

Reproduction & Breeding Services
At Naturaliste Veterinary Services, our reproductive program is built around precision, performance, and uncompromising attention to detail. We partner with breeders, owners, and studs to deliver elite reproductive management, combining advanced diagnostics with meticulous cycle control to optimise fertility and produce exceptional outcomes.
Our artificial insemination programs are executed with a high level of technical precision across fresh, chilled, and frozen semen. Through intensive reproductive monitoring and exact ovulation timing, we maximise conception rates while preserving the long-term reproductive health of the mare.
We design and implement tailored synchronisation protocols for both artificial insemination and live cover programs. These plans are engineered to streamline breeding operations, enhance efficiency, and ensure mares present at the optimal time for conception.
Pregnancy management is approached proactively, with detailed monitoring throughout gestation to support foetal development and identify complications early. Our goal is to protect both mare and foal, ensuring a smooth progression from conception through to term.
The neonatal period is critical to long-term performance. We provide immediate post-foaling assessment and intensive early-life support, focusing on rapid diagnosis and intervention to give each foal the strongest possible start.
Lameness & Performance
At Naturaliste Veterinary Services, we deliver a highly detailed, evidence-based approach to the investigation of lameness and poor performance. Our focus extends beyond identifying pain—we assess the horse as a whole, incorporating biomechanics, training demands, and discipline-specific expectations to build a complete clinical picture.
Each case is approached systematically, combining comprehensive clinical examination with advanced diagnostic modalities. This includes objective gait analysis using the Lameness Locator system, diagnostic analgesia through nerve and joint blocks, and high-resolution imaging with digital radiography and musculoskeletal ultrasonography. Through precise localisation of pathology, we are able to move efficiently from investigation to diagnosis.
Our biomechanical assessments further refine this process, identifying subtle inefficiencies and compensatory patterns that may impact performance or predispose to injury. This level of detail allows us to design targeted treatment and rehabilitation strategies that are not only effective, but sustainable.
We offer advanced therapeutic options, including regenerative medicine such as Alpha 2 EQ, alongside tailored management plans to support recovery, durability, and long-term soundness.
In addition, we provide thorough Equine Pre-Purchase Examinations, delivering clear, structured assessments that allow buyers to make informed decisions based on risk, intended use, and long-term expectations.
Equine Medicine & Advanced Care
Our equine medicine service is defined by diagnostic precision, clinical depth, and a commitment to delivering hospital-level care in the field. We manage both acute and complex medical conditions with a structured, evidence-based approach, ensuring each case is thoroughly investigated and expertly managed.
Accurate diagnosis underpins every successful outcome. Our fully equipped ambulatory service allows us to perform high-quality diagnostic procedures on-farm, including advanced imaging and endoscopic evaluation, enabling immediate interpretation and real-time clinical decision-making. This level of capability allows for earlier intervention, targeted therapy, and a more efficient path to recovery.
We offer a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services, from routine procedures through to advanced case management. Field-based surgical capabilities include castrations, wound repair, and select surgical oncology procedures, performed with a focus on safety, sterility, and optimal outcomes.
Our diagnostic suite includes medical endoscopy, mobile gastroscopy, bronchoalveolar lavage, ultrasonography, digital radiography, and in-field laboratory testing. These tools allow for detailed assessment across respiratory, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, and systemic conditions.
Treatment protocols are tailored to the individual, integrating advanced therapies such as intra-articular treatments, soft tissue management, and regenerative medicine. Every plan is designed with a clear objective: to restore health, support longevity, and return the horse to its intended level of function and performance.
Preventative & General Care
Exceptional performance and longevity are built on a foundation of proactive, meticulous healthcare. At Naturaliste Veterinary Services, we deliver a comprehensive range of general equine services with the same clinical precision and attention to detail that define our performance and reproductive work.
Our approach to preventative medicine is strategic and individualised, designed to optimise health, minimise risk, and support each horse across every stage of life. From routine care through to complex medical management, we prioritise early detection, informed decision-making, and continuity of care.
We provide structured preventative health programs alongside advanced medical support, ensuring every horse receives a tailored plan aligned with their age, workload, and physiological demands.
Every interaction is underpinned by a commitment to clinical excellence, with the goal of maintaining soundness, enhancing wellbeing, and supporting long-term performance.
